Your exclusive wedding venue in Florence
Located on the hills just out of the heart of the city, Villa Cora is a jewel overlooking the Boboli Gardens. Now part of the prestigious The Leading Hotels of the World group – which testifies its value as a top-class wedding venue – this centuries-old residence was once a place for artists and dignitaries to enjoy their holidays… and you can feel it, in every inch of its space.
The history of Villa Cora
Villa Cora was built as a commission of dignitary Baron Oppenheim in the late 19th Century, by the architects Giuseppe Poggi and Pietro Comparini. Its style – inside and out – reflects the architectural norm of the Tuscan villas of the time.
From the very beginning, this stately home often hosted noblemen and women from all over the world, such as Princess Eugenia – wife of Napoleon III – and artists like the composer Tchaikovsky. What made Villa Cora so popular as a holiday getaway for aristocrats was the beauty and tranquility that permeated it.
It’s no surprise that, at some point in the 1960s, the building underwent a renovation that transformed it into a hotel – restored and perfected in 2010. From that moment on, it clearly became one of the finest wedding venues in Florence. You will surely feel the influence of all of its history on your special day…
One wedding venue, multiple beautiful settings
If you’re a lover of noteworthy luxury, you will undoubtedly appreciate the prestigious décor of Villa Cora and its versatile environment.
The first thing you notice, besides the picturesque location tucked away in the peaceful Florence countryside, is the expansive garden and courtyard. They provide plenty of secluded space, perfect as a setting for your symbolic ceremony and dreamy wedding photos. You can enjoy the poolside too: a lively backdrop for a cocktail hour with a sunset view.
But it’s the interiors that will literally leave you speechless. The impressive Salone degli Specchi, embellished by golden decorations, can accommodate up to 100 people sitting at round tables – or 70 if you prefer imperial tables. This sumptuous and baroque room, covered in frescoes, will make you feel like royalty on your wedding day.
The Sala Moresca, Sala delle Carte and Sala Bianca are smaller but equally charming, each with its own eclectic style and one-of-a-kind elements – such as the big, white, marble fireplace of the Sala Bianca.
Last but not least, from the elegant rooftop you and your guests will feel like you have Florence at your feet: nothing could make your event more memorable than this view, especially at sunset!
Looking for a Tuscany villa wedding venue?
Whether you’re dreaming of an intimate wedding or you prefer grand pomp and circumstance, Paolo Cicognani’s team can curate a perfect experience in Villa Cora.
Smaller and discreet weddings can be held in the courtyard – if the season allows – but won’t have exclusive access to the swimming pool, because hotel guests will be using it too.
What we recommend is reserving the entire villa as your wedding venue in Florence, so that you can enjoy your precious day with complete privacy, freedom and full access to all of the spaces. This is a must if you’re planning on having a big party, but ideal also for a small celebration.
The 44 rooms of the property can accommodate up to 100 guests, and a minimum stay of 2 nights is required in order to have exclusive use of the residence. You will be able to turn your wedding into a real family reunion, making it even more special and unforgettable.
