Imagine a three-story villa that takes all the magic of the hillsides and incorporates that beauty into its Renaissance architecture and extraordinary gardens. And now imagine your celebration in such a marvelous setting, together with the people you love the most: isn’t it precious?

Fall in love with a  Tuscany wedding villa like no other

La Foce is a Tuscany wedding villa located in the south of the region, specifically in an area called Val d’Orcia, maybe not as famous – and crowded! – as Chianti, but equally gorgeous. In fact, these rolling hills are so stunning that they are among UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. Even Shakespeare was inspired by the allure of this area: “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” was set here… and this lets you grasp the absolute charm of this place, doesn’t it?

The history of La Foce

The villa, built in the late 1400s, was first a popular tavern. It didn’t take long for it to become the center of a big estate, but then, in a nation torn by war and poverty in the centuries to come, it was nearly abandoned together with the villages around it.

That is, until Antonio and Iris Origo – a famous Anglo-American biographer and historian – bought the property in 1924. The couple called the famed architect Cecil Pinsent to work on bringing the old villa and surrounding grounds back to life. Little by little, they turned it into the jewel you can see today.

Nowadays the estate features six unique buildings – the villa itself and five more houses – and a private pool. They all feature a classic, timeless atmosphere but with a touch of modernity such as Wi-Fi all over the property.

Its location – comfortably seated midway between Florence and Rome, and close to several other iconic Italian towns like Siena, Montepulciano, Pienza and Arezzo – makes it the perfect venue for a destination wedding in Tuscany.

The green soul of the Villa

If there’s something that Paolo Cicognani’s team loves about this Tuscany wedding villa is for sure its enchanted gardens, which are worth the trip. As we said, they were designed by the English architect Pinsent together with Iris Origo herself and they took over a decade to be implemented – between 1925 and 1939.

The many settings of the park provide a magnificent backdrop for your wedding (and photoshoot!). You can choose between the labyrinth of avenues of pines, cypresses and wild broom, or the wonderful wisteria pergola that rises to the forest. Or maybe you prefer the traditional, formal Italian garden of boxy hedges that create small unique “rooms” where lemon trees grow in terracotta pots, perfuming the air? You will find lavender and herbs too, with their unmistakable fragrance, and rose bushes and cherry trees that shade guests in the mid-afternoon sun.

Throughout the splendid and verdant garden of La Foce villa, you can stumble upon 17th-century stone statues and fountains, that make the space look even more elegant. A space and event that you and your loved ones will never forget.

Is La Foce the Tuscany wedding villa for you?

Among the blooming wisterias and lemon trees, for centuries brides and grooms have had unique, phenomenal weddings that are befitting of a fairy tale. Now the question is: will you be the next one to get married in such a unique Tuscany wedding villa?

What we can tell you is that La Foce is a versatile venue, suitable for summer weddings and winter ones. In the warmer season you will be able to celebrate outdoors, near the colonnade, overlooking the garden, or in the courtyard next to the buildings. In that case, we suggest using a marquee to host the reception. In case of a winter wedding – or if you need a backup plan because of rain – the Limonaia next to the pool is ready to welcome your party.

The villa offers several types of accommodations, ranging from private rooms to entire homes for large family gatherings. Each of them has up-to-date amenities and full access to the gardens, pool and whatnot. And if you – or your guests – love Tuscan food, you will be happy to know that at your wedding dinner you will taste the freshest ingredients served farm-to-table.
